What do you think about hefty public service pay raises?

I think it shows the mentality of those in government relative to: "We are the ruling cl, we will look after ourselves, and you guys had better get onboard with that." The rest of the country has to tighten our belts and deal with having less money to spend on more expensive products but those in Congress will make sure that they don't feel the pinch as much as the rest of us will.
